A HORRIFIC accident in the early hours of Saturday, 30 December has claimed one life.
The tragedy occurred on Govern Mbeki Road near the Thabo Mbeki squatter camp in Philippi East, Cape Town.
The accident involved a Sprinter taxi and a vehicle with five passengers, including the 32-year-old man who died.
When Daily Sun arrived at the scene, the bus driver was in a police van for questioning.
A witness said: "The accident happened between a Sprinter taxi and a car with seven passengers in it. The Sprinter was coming from the Eastern Cape."
Another witness, Nokubonga Mafuya, told Daily Sun: "The driver of the vehicle was taken to hospital while the passenger died outside the vehicle. The other passengers were treated at the scene and taken to hospital."

Relatives of the deceased said they were shocked. They said they rushed to the scene after learning that their brother had been involved in a car accident.
A family member said: "We last saw him yesterday when he was out with his friends."
Provincial police spokesman Sergeant Wesley Twigg said Philippi East police have registered a case of culpable homicide for investigation following the fatal accident that killed a 32-year-old man on Govern Mbeki Road at 4am on Saturday morning.
"According to reports, two vehicles, a Sprinter and another vehicle, were involved in the accident. The five occupants of the minibus were taken to a medical facility for treatment. The circumstances surrounding the incident are still under investigation," Twigg said.
