A GOGO allegedly allowed her grandchildren to be raped in exchange for money.
KwaZulu-Natal Social Development MEC Nonhlanhla Khoza has strongly condemned the exploitation of children in Ward 13, Nkandla Local Municipality.
The department released the statement on Thursday, 15 June.
The shocking revelations involve the exploitation of three teenage girls, aged 13, 14 and 15, allegedly orchestrated by their grandmother, who accepted money from foreign nationals to facilitate sexual acts with her granddaughters.
The allegations of the rape of three children in Nkandla, northern KwaZulu-Natal, have shocked the family and community.
It is alleged that the girls would visit the foreign nationals at their salon in Kranskop town in KZN, and the grandmother would demand money on their return home.
MEC Khoza expressed deep concern over this distressing situation and emphasised the importance of ensuring that everyone who played a role in this abuse of children needs to be arrested.

"This case represents a grave violation of children's rights and a despicable act of grooming vulnerable young girls into becoming sex slaves. We want a thorough and expeditious investigation by law enforcement agencies to ensure that all individuals involved in the exploitation of these innocent children face the full might of the law," she said.
She said all involved must be held accountable, including the grandmother accused of facilitating these horrifying acts.
"We find solace in the fact that the accused foreign nationals who engaged in sexual acts with minors were arrested. We must ensure their accountability for such egregious violations of children's rights," she added.
MEC Khoza urged community members to remain vigilant and report any suspected cases of child exploitation or abuse promptly to the relevant authorities has assembled a team of social workers to provide psycho-social support, including trauma counselling services, to help with the healing and recovery process for the family and victims.
KwaZulu-Natal police spokesperson Robert Netshiunda confirmed that two suspects had been arrested concerning the rape of two of these children.
