A 31-YEAR-OLD man was arrested in Johannesburg on Sunday, 11 June in connection with Thabo Bester's escape from prison.
The suspect, who is a Zimbabwean national, is expected to appear in the Bloemfontein Magistrates court on Tuesday, 13 June.
Police spokeswoman, Brigadier Athlenda Mathe, said the suspect has been charged with helping a convicted prisoner escape from lawful custody.
"We cannot rule out the fact that other charges will be added. We can confirm that based on our investigations, more arrests will be made," she said.

The number of people who have been arrested in connection with Bester's escape has increased to nine. The Bloemfontein Magistrates Court has denied bail to four of the accused and released one with conditions.
Former G4S security employees, Senohe Matsoara, Motanyane Masukela and Tieho Makhotsa as well as CCTV camera installer, Teboho Lipholo, were denied bail.
The Free State High Court dismissed an urgent application that was filed by Bester's girlfriend Dr Nandipha Magudumana with cost. Magudumana, who was arrested in Tanzania, challenged her arrest and deportation.
The dead body of Katleho Mothusi Bereng (32) was found burned beyond recognition in Bester's cell. His family said his spirit will fight back.
Family spokeswoman, Popie Bereng, welcomed the judgment.
"We are very happy as a family. This is a beginning of justice. Katleho's spirit will fight for itself," said Popie.
