CASH-in-transit criminals were warned as Gauteng cops were on their trails.
Gauteng Acting Police Commissioner Major General Tommy Mthombeni led Operation Shanela in Loate and Rietgat in Tshwane on Saturday, 24 February.
"I hope where they are. They are feeling the heat. Whoever is involved in this crime must know the seat they are occupying is hot, and they will feel it as if they are sitting on top of the fire," he said.
Mthombeni warned people not to fall victim to online robberies.
He said they managed to stabilise online crime, and the criminals regrouped again.
"We have established a team that looks into the issue of online robberies, identified 20 targets, and addressed 10. There is a work in progress. We have recovered 49 firearms, and we have arrested 56 people related to online robberies," he said.
He said that they are addressing it, but the thugs are resurfacing.

On the Jukulyn murder incident, Mthombeni said they were not related to gangsters. People were shot and killed, including a police official.
He said they had addressed the matter, arrested the suspect, and recovered the firearms.
"The two police precincts of Loate and Reitgat are troubled with high volumes of crime, assault GBH, murders and car hijackings.
"We followed people involved in ATM bombings; we faced those people pound for pound, with cross-shooting. Unfortunately, one thug lost his life, and two were arrested," he said.
He said during the operation, they arrested a suspect involved in hijackings; the suspect was in possession of an unlicensed firearm and possession of stolen cars in Hercules.
Meanwhile, Tshwane District Commissioner Major General Azwinndini Nengovhela destroyed 7 585 933ml of alcohol in Pretoria West on Friday, 23 February.
The alcohol was from the policing precincts of Hammanskraal, Mabopane, Pretoria West, Sunnyside, and Hercules.
"These illegal shabeens were closed down for trading without liquor licenses. The liquor was confiscated in six months," he said.
