THE suspects in the Soshanguve New Year's shooting will hear their fate on Wednesday, February 15, at the Soshanguve Magistrates Court and rule on his bail application.

Tshepo Mosimane's bail application ruling, which was scheduled on Tuesday, January 31, was delayed until Thursday due to the investigating officer in charge not validating Mosimane's lawyer's statements.

Mosemeni's defence attorney, Stephen Magoro, stated in court that the suspect has a 9-month-old child and works as a car wash manager, making approximately R3 000 monthly.

"Despite being implicated by a fellow suspect in the shooting incident, he was at home with his girlfriend and child, and they had an alibi to back up those allegations," Magoro said.

Mosemeni and his co-accused Sipho Kgomo were the first suspects charged with four counts of murder and one count of attempted murder on Thursday, January 4.

The other two co-accused, George Nyathi and Sizwe Msibi, were arrested on Monday, January 8, and all their bail applications were abandoned on Thursday, February 1.

The affected families could not contain their joy at the three suspects' abandonment of their applications, anticipating that Mosemeni's application would also be dismissed.

Slain Gopolang Molakapatlo's sister, Koketso Molakapatlo, said there is no smoke without fire and that what happens in the dark always comes to light.

"He was the first suspect arrested alongside Kgomo, and he's the most smiling suspect of all of them," she said.

"We all know that financial resources can buy people's freedom in South Africa," she said.

The deceased 14-year-old Vuyolwethu Zimele's mum, Nandipha Ziwele, told the Daily Sun that, while he was not there at the killing, he was involved telephonically, implying that he was also an accomplice to the crime.

"My biggest wish is for him not to be granted bail," she stated, adding that he should merely stay inside with his co-accused.
