RESIDENTS say they want scholar transport because they can no longer afford the cost of transporting their children to school.
They said the department of education in the North West knows that some schools in Hebron and Kgabalatsane don't have scholar transport.
According to the residents, Lerato Primary School, Kgabalatsane Primary School, Meriting Primary and Micha-kgasi Secondary School, Lot Phalatse Primary School, Hebron Tech Secondary School and Ontlametse Phalatse Primary School in Hebron don't have scholar transport.
Residents said that their children walk long distances and are exposed to accidents and crime.
Concerned resident Malebo Ramagofu (59) from Rockville in Hebron said that the issue of scholar transport is a headache for many residents.
She said that children as young as six years old walk long distances to school.
Malebo said many people in areas such as Hebron and Kgabalatsane are unemployed and rely on grant money.
Another resident, Dipolelo Peega (44) said they've been appealing to the department of education in the North West since 2018.

"We fear for our kids' safety and beg the department of education to help us," she said.
Parent Terstia Masilo (40) said: "We urgently need transport. Our children are suffering because we have no buses. We hope the government will hear our plea."
North West Department of Education spokesman Mphata Molokwane said the school transport programmes involve various stakeholders and role players including parents, school district authorities, transport companies, pupils, governing bodies and road traffic inspectors.
"The principal and the chair of the governing body must determine the need for a pupil transportation programme and submit a written request to the school district office to the attention of the Head: Institutional Management and Governance Co-ordination and Advice stating the number of students, the names of the students, their ages and grades. Residential addresses and Central Education Management Information System (CEMIS) numbers," Molokwane said.
