ONCE again, KZN has woken up to yet another bloodbath.

This after four family members were gunned down execution style in the early hours of Monday, 27 November.

KZN police spokesman Colonel Robert Netshiunda said this was the second incident at the same household in a space of a year.

It's alleged that about five armed suspects entered the house and opened fire at the 64-year-old father of the house, his wife (60), their 32-year-old son and a 19-year-old nephew, who were all in the same house.

And a neighbour was shot in the legs and is receiving medical attention at a hospital. But one person, who was asleep in a separate room, miraculously survived the assassination.

Netshiunda said the motive of the shooting has not been established as yet although a family-related feud couldn't be ruled out.

"Police in KZNhave launched a manhunt for at least five suspects who shot and killed four family members and injured another in Hluhluwe, Ezinhlongeni Village in Mfume in the early hours of Monday, 27 November 2023," he said.

He said this is a second incident at the same household after an attack in 2022.

"In 2022, the mother of the house sustained gunshot wounds during a shooting, and the matter is still under investigation," said Netshiunda.

He said police were appealing to anyone who might have knowledge regarding the whereabouts of the suspects or information that could assist in the investigation to contact the Amanzimtoti police or call the CrimeStop number on 08600 10111 or alert the police via the MySAPS.
