THE defence lawyer for accused one in the murder trial of a taxi boss, Chaima Mwale, has questioned the credibility of a confession statement that Colonel Koena Mashilo took.
This is after Mashilo acknowledged that he made mistakes when taking the statement.
He was testifying in the Mbombela High Court in Mpumalanga during the murder trial of the taxi boss who was gunned down in Barberton two years ago.
Mashilo told the court during cross-examination that he didn't record the conversations on the document.
Bonginkosi Mabaso, together with convicted notorious criminal Kholizwe Masina and a prison warden, Michael Sithole, are facing charges of murder, conspiracy to commit murder, and possession of unlicensed firearm and ammunition.
They all pleaded not guilty to the charges.
The victim was gunned down in February 2021 after he had just parked his car at a mechanic's house in the area.

The court heard that the assailants came driving a car that belonged to a certain taxi association in Barberton.
Bheki Maluka, who is the lawyer of the accused, Bonginkosi Mabaso, who is also a taxi, told the court that his client was covered with plastic and choked. He has accused the police of failing to consider the rights of the accused.
Sergeant Jacob Zulu took the stand and dismissed the claims that the accused was assaulted.
Zulu said no one forced him to make a confession statement as he had driven himself to the police station.
"He was not assaulted and never said anything about being assaulted. He has no complaints about him being assaulted. He was not," he said. The trial will continue on Tuesday, 28 November, for further trial within a trial.
