THE female body recovered from the Klip River, south of Joburg on Wednesday, 22 November is that of Ayaphiwe Ndothi.
This was confirmed by the family on Thursday afternoon, 23 November.
When the family visited the pathology laboratory in Diepkloof on Thursday afternoon, they confirmed that the body is indeed that of their daughter Ayaphiwe.
This was after the family visited the pathology lab on Wednesday after the body was recovered and could not identify her.
Ayaphiwe’s uncle, Sabelo Ndothi, confirmed that the body is indeed Ayaphiwe.
He said that we couldn't identify her yesterday because she was full of mud and her clothes were covered with mud.
"We had a discussion as a family, and we have certain identities that we identified and confirmed to us that it is indeed her. We saw her eyes and her feet,” said the uncle.
The family said they will prepare a dignified send off for Aphiwe and thanked the rescue services for their hard work in recovering the body.
