A FAMILY of a slain Mpumalanga traffic inspector has suffered a double blow after another family member died on Thursday, 20 April.

Thamsanqa Nkosi, who worked at the Department of Public Works, Roads and Transport, was shot dead on Saturday, 15 April, allegedly by his colleague (38).

It is alleged that Nkosi was found with the colleague's wife in one of the chalets at KwaNyoni Lodge outside Mbombela.

According to reports, a fight broke out. The suspect pulled out his gun and shot the victim twice while he was fleeing. The 34-year-old victim died at the scene.

While the family was still trying to come to terms with their loss, Nkosi's gogo also died.

Family spokesman Gomi Nkosi (53) confirmed that gogo Lomvimbi Zulu (84) died at the family home on Thursday afternoon 20, April. He said she didn't take the news of her grandson's death well.

“Since we received the news, she was not coping. We tried to take her to doctors, but it didn't work. On Thursday, 20 April, she said she was tired and wanted to rest, and when they checked her later, her condition worsened. We called emergency services, but it was late. They declared her death," Gomi said.

Gomi said the death of Thamsanqa had affected everyone, but it was worse for gogo Lomvimbi because she had raised him.

"She did not expect him to die before her. It's a very difficult moment for the family because now we have to bury two people within a short space of time," he said.

Gomi said he was worried that Thamsanqa's father was not well either.

"His father had been admitted to hospital since Saturday. His condition is not good at all," he said.

Meanwhile, the suspect appeared in the Nelspruit Magistrates Court and the matter was postponed to Tuesday, 25 April, for bail application.
