SELF-PROCLAIMED prophet Tebogo Makena has taken a lot of heat for the prices of his designer healing. But he is not phased.

“I only help people who stay in big homes, drive expensive cars and have a lot of money in the bank,” he said.

“MY GUCCI MUTHI IS NOT FOR THE MASSES, MAN!”

The 28-year-old, originally from Mamelodi in Tshwane, now lives in Waterfall, Midrand.

He alleged to Daily Sun that he was an oracle.

“I was born this way. I am not an ordinary prophet. I am above everything. It is my gift,” he claimed.

And, he believed, if you wanted to be the lucky recipient of his special attention, it would cost you a lot as he did not come cheap.

He posted a catalogue of his consultation prices on Sunday, 21 August, and it was not meant for everyone.

Depending on what you wanted, it would cost you from R10 000 for the basics, ranging all the way to R75 000.

Makena is known as a man who appears to rise above his circumstances.

Daily Sun wrote an article about him in 2018 under the headline: “Skhothane prisoner rage”. It was about the jailbird flaunting his luxurious lifestyle.

He served seven years in prison after being found guilty of malicious damage to state property, housebreaking, fraud and forgery.

He claimed he saw visions when he was in prison but never took them seriously. But when he came out, he knew he had to start his journey.

“Now I help people every day. This is something I was born with,” he claimed, adding that his prices were not for everyone.

“I only help people who have money. I do my rituals on dangerous mountains that people fear.”

After being ripped apart on social media for his prices, he said he was not bothered as he had his own clientele.

And his services included tightening relationships for R25 000, marriages for R20 000 and river cleansing for R10 000. A designer consultation costs up to R75 000.

Andrew Mashime Somo, the president of Dingaka Association, said people like Makena should stop playing others.

“He is still a young man. Every organisation has a price list so that traditional healers don’t make up their own prices,” he said, adding that a traditional healer received a certificate and price list after graduating.

“The only highest price is for thwasa school, ranging between R10 000 and R15 000, while R3 000 is for strengthening a house,” he said.

He pleaded with people not to believe everything they saw on TV. He said if Makena did not have a gobela, then he was not a real traditional healer.

“A traditional healer needs to be trained. Yes, we are all gifted but we had to be taught just like medical doctors have to go to school before they can practise,” he said.

Social media users said Makena’s prices did not make sense.

Then Nthabiseng Maphisa said: “What kind of motivation is that if he wants R40k? Does it come with money to console me?”

Sibusiso said: “He must be a real Messiah. Is he God or maybe listed as one of the best healers? This is black child robbery!”
