THE state is expected to bring original payment certificates for the suppliers in the corruption trial of former eThekwini mayor Zandile Gumede.
Gumede and others, including the former city manager Sipho Nzuza, are appearing in the Durban High Court on Monday, 16 October.
They're facing charges of fraud and corruption in relation to a Durban Solid Waste (DSW) tender worth more than R300 million.
On a previous appearance, state prosecutor Ashika Lucken presented copies of payment certificates instead of originals.
Judge Sharmaine Balton wasn't happy with that and condemned Lucken, asking her how many times she has told the state to always bring originals and not copies of documents they planned to present in court.
She then adjourned the matter and asked her to return with the original certificates.

Meanwhile, the matter has been delayed as it began two weeks ago, and it's expected to end on Tuesday, 17 October.
The trial couldn't sit for three days due to a Legal Aid application by Cynthia Nzuza (52), who didn't have representation.
Cynthia is married to the former city manager Nzuza.
She allegedly coordinated fitting a built-in kitchen in her mother-in-law's home, with the R18 000 bill paid by one of the service providers accused in the matter.
However, Gumede assisted Cynthia by giving her representation through her lawyer, Advocate Jay Naidoo.
Naidoo will now represent Cynthia only for this session until the Legal Aid board gives feedback on Cynthia's application.
The retired head of DSW is expected to proceed with his testimony.
