GORDON Matwetwe Muningi (50) and Tebogo Rufus Thutlwa (48) appeared in the Roodepoort Magistrates Court on Tuesday, 9 April, with their faces half covered.

The two are linked to the murder of Dr Michael Isabelle, who was shot and murdered in his surgery in Dobsonville, Soweto.

Their matter was postponed to Monday, 15 April, for a formal bail application.

A woman who was employed by the late Dr Isabelle told Daily Sun that she fears the accused might get bail.

“The announcement of the proper bail application made me numb. It made me feel as if the accused will be granted bail. We will have to hear from the court why they would consider allowing these people to even apply for bail,” the employee said.

She said that as the doctor's employees, they have lost so much.

“We have lost an income. The death of Mike has left a big void, and it's extremely difficult. We hope that justice will prevail, and we will get to find out what made those people do whatever they did,” she said.

The employee said today marks 49 days since the Dr died.

“Every morning, we count the days. We are now without jobs, and we are suffering. Our kids are suffering, she said.

A source alleged that she had heard rumours that the murderers did this because they were informed that the doctor had R50 000 cash in his possession, which she disputed to be true and backed it up by saying clients paid with bank cards and medical aid.

“There’s no way he had that amount of cash in him,” she said.

According to our source, the accused were in the business of killing.

“Had they come to steal, they would have taken what they came for. Instead, they shot him directly on the chest, rib and forehead to make sure that he was dead,” she said.

The accused are facing two counts of murder, four of robbery with aggravating circumstances, malicious damage to property, unlawful possession of firearm and ammunition and defeating or obstructing the administration of justice.
