THE Patriotic Alliance (PA) has announced plans to train Daveyton residents as security guards.
This move's aimed at boosting local employment and enhancing community safety.
During a meeting at Sinaba Stadium on Saturday, 27 April, dozens of residents gathered to hear the party's proposal.
Laly Sikosana, the PA spokeswoman in Daveyton, highlighted that the training would be offered free of charge, with successful trainees being assisted in securing employment with various security firms.
Letlotlo Ranyathole, the PA organiser in Daveyton, emphasised the benefit of this initiative for local community patrollers and Community Policing Forum (CPF) members, many of whom lack formal training in crime prevention.

"PA is committed to combating hunger, poverty, and improving service delivery. By training residents as security guards and facilitating job placements, we aim to make a significant impact on reducing crime in Daveyton," Sikosana said.
The PA plans to collaborate with the association of medical doctors in Daveyton to realize this initiative.
The response from the community has been overwhelmingly positive, with many expressing gratitude for the job creation efforts.
However, Sikosana noted that while the training is free, participants would need to cover the cost of their PSiRA certificates, which are essential for employment in the security sector.
The cost of a PSiRA certificate is less than R500, and the training will focus on Grade C security skills. The Private Security Industry Regulatory Authority (PSiRA) oversees private security services in South Africa.
PA leaders Gayton McKenzie and Kenny Kunene are expected to further discuss this initiative with the residents.
