BUILD One South Africa (Bosa) leader, Mmusi Maimane has firmly stated that his party will not collaborate with a "corrupt" ANC.

Maimane expressed these sentiments on Wednesday, 24 April, outside the Electoral Commission of SA (IEC) offices.

He was revealing seven parties that have joined the Bosa alliance and will campaign for the party in the upcoming national and provincial elections on 29 May.

“There's a party that went to the Zondo Commission and its president said, ‘we are accused number one’. I hoped after the Zondo Commission they will sober up, but they made a decision that those who were fingered in the Zondo Report must go and be public representatives in Parliament. Without mincing my word, that speaks to the ANC,” Maimane said.

He said he is saddened to see the governing party fingered in corruption.

“This is a liberation movement. It’s sad. There are South Africans sitting at home who are crying about this fact. My parents were ANC voters. You must feel the disappointment that people feel. I feel it too,” he said.

Maimane claimed many ANC leaders have said it was time for the party to sit on the bench and give someone else a chance to lead Mzansi. He urged ejected ANC voters not to sit home on voting day.

“We can’t say we want to remove corruption with the corrupt. But addition to that you also can’t deal with parties that are racists because that goes against the spirit of building one South Africa,” he said.

The alliance partners include Mopani Independent Movement (MIM), Lentswe La Batho, Abantu Integrity Movement (AIM), Moretele Independent Civic Organization (MICO), New Horizon Movement, Movement of the People and African Change Academy (ACA).

Maimane clarified that only Bosa will be on the ballot.

“All parties will campaign for Bosa and its candidates. In turn, Bosa has accommodated leaders of other parties as candidates or in party's leadership structures,” he said.

Representing alliance partners, Mandla Tyala from AIM shared the parties' reasons for joining Bosa.

"We resonate with Bosa's message that our country is in disrepair."

He said citizens have come to learn that what they were promised in 1994 has turned out to be a mirage.

Tyala reflected on the disillusionment since 1994 and suggested that it's time for voters to choose between suffering or embrace a new start.
