Rise Mzansi Gauteng premier candidate, Vuyiswa Ramokgopa unveils her party's big plan.

RISE MZANSI Gauteng Premier candidate, Vuyiswa Ramokgopa has big plans for Gautengers.

Ramokgopa led a voters' campaign in Joburg on Monday, 15 April. She was addressing scores of Rise Mzansi volunteers, organisers and leaders about her plans for the province, should she become premier after 29 May.

She'll go head-to-head with some of the political heavyweights, including DA's Solly Msimanga, ANC's Panyaza Lesufi and many others who are eyeing the top seat.

She declared: “I, Vuyiswa Ramokgopa, has a plan. A plan to reignite Gauteng's economy and create jobs. A plan to ensure our children are cared for. A plan to clean out corrupt elements in government, clean our streets and ensure the people of Gauteng don't live in squalor.

“A plan to connect every resident to places of work and opportunities and ensure that everyone, who is able to work, finds work. A plan to keep people safe. A plan to co-operate with local municipalities to restore service delivery.”

She said in the last few months, she has travelled the length and breadth of the province, meeting with and engaging residents about their frustration, dreams, fears, hope and aspirations.

She said unemployment, drug abuse, water and housing are some of the things that make residents angry.

“We'll target the creation of 600 000 new permanent jobs in five years by making Gauteng an attractive investment destination, prioritising manufacturing and industrial development and supporting the growth of SMMEs.

“A Rise Mzansi government will prioritise care for the citizens of this province and give them the tools to take care of themselves – this includes healthcare, childcare, physical and mental well-being,” she said.

To realise this vision, Ramokgopa said Rise Mzansi will govern co-operatively across all spheres of government and in partnership with communities, and business stakeholders to stabilise local municipalities and ensure effective and stable coalition governments.
