KING of sushi and businessman turned politician Kenny Kunene will run for the premier of Gauteng in the upcoming elections.
The deputy leader of Patriotic Alliance (PA), also the MMC in the City of Joburg, will join the party leader Gayton McKenzie as he has been selected to run for the premier of the Western Cape.
According to the party, the selections were made during a meeting of the Patriotic Alliance National Executive Committee in George in the Western Cape this past weekend.
The party also selected candidates in seven other provinces.
PA deputy secretary general Meshee Habana said leader McKenzie already distinguished himself in the province as the executive mayor of the Central Karoo.
She said he has a bold vision for governing the Western Cape, which has become a stronghold for the PA, as demonstrated by its recent by-election wins in the province.

“As the leader of the party, McKenzie will simultaneously stand as the PA's presidential candidate.
“In the event that the PA is in a position to enter into a national coalition after the May 29 elections, that possibility will be explored, but leader McKenzie has committed himself to leading the Western Cape, as it is now clear that the province will be severely hung.
"The PA is likely to emerge as a kingmaker, including in Gauteng, which is being contested by PA deputy president Kenny Kunene,” she said.
Habana said they are confident that the PA will continue to grow from strength and that all their premier candidates will do the party proud.
Reacting to the nomination, McKenzie said he has been deployed to what many deem as mission impossible, removing the DA from the Western Cape.
“We are about to expose that myth. I graciously accepted the assignment to also be the premier candidate of the Western Cape,” he said.
He further said Kunene needs to be given the Gauteng premiership because when he was acting mayor of the City of Joburg for two days, he took on the arrogance and criminality of illegal foreigners.
“He demolished places used for drugs selling by Nigerians, he caught cable thieves and raided their hideouts. Let’s give him the premiership of Gauteng,” he said.
