THE Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) in the Free State has slammed ANC secretary-general Fikile Mbalula.
This after Mbalula criticised the legacy of the former QwaQwa prime minister Dr Tshiame Kenneth Mopeli when he addressed party members during the party's 2019 manifesto review in Phuthaditjhaba on 7 October 2023.
He said residents of the province didn't know what load shedding was as the late Mopeli hadn't given them electricity in the first place. He said people only have electricity today because of the ANC.
He said Dr TK Mopeli didn't do anything for the province.
EFF provincial secretary Malefane Msimanga said Mopeli had built more than 600 schools, thousands of factories, five colleges, one university, dams, roads and proper infrastructure during the dark days of apartheid while it was unfashionable.

"For Mbalula to say Mopeli has done nothing, he owes us an apology - not only to Mopeli's family but to the entire residents of QwaQwa who witnessed intensive development under his government.
"TK Mopeli was operated under a damned government but he managed to turn things around in a short period of time. There was no unemployment during his leadership. Mbalula must apologise for urinating on TK Mopeli's grave," he said
Msimanga said ANC launched a secret campaign, allegedly to destroy Dr Mopeli's legacy.
"After they got power in1994, they came up with baseless excuses to say the country has overflow of teachers. Hence they destroyed Mopeli's teaching colleges. Instead of maintaining Mopeli's infrastructure, they decided to redirect water channels and create water crises," he claimed.
"They have failed dismally to maintain Mopeli's electricity substations, the residents are tasting the bitterness of their 1994 decision to bring ANC into Power. Maluti-a-Phofung Municipality has been a cash cow of corrupt mafias syndicate for such a long time," said Msimanga.
