AN Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) KZN provincial spokesman could be behind the attack of the president of Amabhinca, Ngizwe Mchunu.
The spokesman was arrested on Tuesday, 13 February and appeared in the Durban Magistrates Court, where he was released on warning.
According to the party’s provincial secretary Nkululeko Ngubane, the provincial spokesman Mazwi Blose was questioned by the Durban Central police and was released on the same day, 13 February.
Ngubane said detectives who were investigating Ngizwe's matter called Blose and asked him to come to the station.
"As we are law-abiding citizens, myself and a lawyer accompanied Blose to the police station. The detectives questioned him and then he was released," he said.
He said they were told by the police that there was political pressure on this matter.
When the former Ukhozi FM presenter Ngizwe was contacted, he said: "Police called me and informed me about Blose's matter."
When he was asked further about the matter, Ngizwe hung up the phone. He was contacted again but he didn't answer, and later his cellphone didn't go through.

Meanwhile, the KZN police spokesman Colonel Robert Netshiunda confirmed that cops arrested 37-year-old Mazwikayise Brian Blose in connection with cases of malicious damage to property and theft, which were allegedly committed on 23 January 2024.
"The suspect is alleged to have damaged cameras, chairs and a table and also took a cellphone during an incident which happened at a hotel on K. E Masinga Road in Durban," said Netshiunda.
He said Blose made a brief appearance in the Durban Magistrates Court on Tuesday, 13 February and was released on a warning and will appear again in court at a later date.
The case comes after Mchunu was attacked while holding a media briefing in Durban on 23 January this year.
The briefing was originally supposed to take place at the Moses Mabhida Stadium, but it was moved to a different location.
In a one-minute long video that went viral on social media, a group of men were seen vandalising the equipment as Ngizwe was about to address the journalists and his followers online when the attack happened.
