DR NANDIPHA Magudumana's attempts to be a free woman have been a futile exercise.

This after the Free State High Court dismissed her bail appeal bid in Bloemfontein on Tuesday, 7 November.

Magudumana's attempt to be released from custody has been dismissed for the third time.

The Supreme Court of Appeal (SCA) recently granted her leave to appeal following a high court decision to dismiss her application twice to declare her repatriation from Tanzania unlawful.

The intensive submissions between the defence and lawyers of the Minister of Home Affairs, the Directorate of Public Prosecution, the Department of Correctional Services, and the Ministry of Police closed Magudumana's ways to avoid prosecution.

Magudumana's lawyers had argued that her arrest and deportation were unlawful and their client was subjected to a toxic extradition.

The Bloemfontein Magistrates Court said during Magudumana's bail hearing, she had voluntarily requested to be brought back to reunite with her children.

She was arrested alongside her notorious boyfriend, Thabo Bester, in Tanzania in April.

Magudumana will have to wait for a highly anticipated pre-trial together with Bester, Senowe Matsoara, Zolile Sekeleni, Teboho Lipholo, Motanyane Masukela, Joel Makhetha, and Tieho Makhotsa.

Her lawyers, advocates Frans Dlamini and Machini Motloung, couldn't be reached for comment.
