DISBARRED advocate Malesela Teffo is due to appear in a court at Kgosi Mampuru II Correctional Centre on Wednesday morning, 31 January, where he is expected to map a way forward.

National Prosecuting Authority (NPA) Gauteng spokeswoman, Lumka Mahanjana said the controversial lawyer is expected to appear with his legal representatives.

“He is appearing for legal raps and instructions,” said Mahanjana.

Teffo previously represented himself after he was dumped by his two lawyers. He was arrested on 1 August 2023 and has been in custody since. He faces charges of malicious damage to property and assault.

The charges stem from an incident where he's accused of entering a building without permission, breaking into his own office and assaulting a security officer.

Teffo gained public sympathy when he was first arrested in court while representing four of the five accused in the case of Bafana Bafana and Orlando Pirates goalkeeper, Senzo Meyiwa.

This happened in April 2022, bringing a lot of speculation as to why he was arrested in court during a high-profile case.
