COPS have arrested two suspects who are believed to be the masterminds of hijackings in Ekurhuleni.

The suspects were among 403 people who were arrested for various crimes such as murder, theft, rape and robbery during police operations which started on Thursday, 28 April and ended on Sunday, 30 April.

Captain Neldah Sekgobela said the two suspects, who are aged between 33 and 49, were arrested in Tembisa and Clayville  respectively on Sunday, 30 April by members of Ekurhuleni District Crime intelligence, Trio Task Team and Tactical Response Team.

She said the suspects were linked to hijacking and murder cases that occurred in Norkempark on Wednesday, 26 April, where the victim, a CPF patroller was hijacked and killed.

“One of the suspects was found in possession of a blue light, flash machine, Mercedes Benz key, Ford key, keys of an unknown make and EMPD warden rank structure.

“The vehicle used by the suspects during the commission of the crime was also found  in the suspect's yard and seized,” said Sekgobela.
