RESIDENTS from Cape Town were shocked after cops arrested a 13-year-old boy involved in a shooting incident on Saturday, 21 October.
The teen was arrested with another 16-year-old teenager and a man aged 34 after a high-speed chase with cops.
The arrest came after the boy allegedly shot at three people, two men and a woman, on Katberg Street in Heideveld. The victims were seriously injured and rushed to hospital.
According to a source close to the incident, the boy is from Mitchells Plain and was allegedly recruited by the Bad Boys gang.
The source said the boy was brought from Mitchells Plain to Heideveld to launch the attack because gangs from the area don't know him.
“The gangs from the area know each other, so for a clean job, they wanted someone from another area whom the rival gang didn't know. It's the boy who shot at the three people. There has been serious gang fighting in Manenberg and surrounding areas. A Bad Boy gang member was shot recently, so we believe the attack is revenge,” said the source.

Police spokesman Warrant Officer Joseph Swartbooi confirmed the incident.
“Reports suggested three unknown armed males entered Katberg Street in Heideveld on Saturday, 21 October, at about 8.20am. They fired random gunshots at two men and a woman on the road.
“Police members who were busy with tracing operations gave chase and arrested and detained three males aged 13, 16 and 34 on charges of attempted murder. The 13-year-old male will face an additional charge of possession of an unlicenced firearm and ammunition. Two of the victims sustained gunshot wounds and were transported to a nearby hospital for medical treatment.
“The motive for the attack is believed to be a retaliation attack. Anyone who witnessed the incident is kindly requested to call CrimeStop on 08600 10111,” Swartbooi said.
