THE MHALA Regional Court has sentenced Bright Mncube (22) to 15 years direct imprisonment on Monday, 26 February.
Mncube pleaded guilty to the charges of murder against him before Magistrate Elmarie Theron.
This after he shot dead student teacher, Thembinkosi Prayer Mathebula. The same court declared him unfit to possess a firearm.
Residents who came to the court in support of the Mathebula family walked out happily and satisfied with the court's decision.
Mathebula (24) was sitting inside the VW Polo with a friend near the Mhala Total filling station and Mhala cop shop when trigger-happy Mncube pumped bullets on him in broad daylight last year on 5 November, leaving him for dying in a pool of blood before fleeing the scene with the used gun.
Unfortunately Mathebula was certified dead upon arrival at the Thulamahashe Health Centre clinic.

He's since been behind bars after he abandoned bail. This was after he handed himself over to the police accompanied by his father on 9 November.
But the court judgment didn't go down well with Mathebula's sister, Nkateko Mathebula (42) and her entire family.
"The 15-years sentence is just a slap on the wrist. He wasn't remorseful as he didn't surrender the used gun to the police. Who knows, perhaps he's still going to come back as a very close neighbour to kill more when he gets released from jail on parole.
"He has blood on his hands. He deserved a hefty sentence as a lesson to him and others. He was supposed go and rot in jail forever. We had expected a lot from our brother, but he robbed him of his precious life for mahala. His 18-months-old child is now fatherless because of him. So he has to be raised without a father."
