SIBONGINKOSI Bhembe is relieved that her brother has not been released on bail.
Bakhe Bhembe (39), who is accused of hacking his 73-year-old mum Busisiwe Bhembe to death with an axe, appeared in court for his bail hearing.
The accused appeared in the Protea Magistrates Court on Thursday, 14 December and was refused by the court. The court stated that he is a danger to society. He will continue to remain in police custody. The case was adjourned to 1 February 2024.
Sibonginkosi told Daily Sun that she was relieved that he was not released on bail because as a family she was afraid of him.

Neighbhour Tshidi Mgudi, the first person called to the scene by the accused's younger brother, told Daily Sun that today was a difficult day for her as she feared that the accused might be released on bail.
"I was confused and scared. If they released him on bail, my life would be in danger," she said.
Residents who had been following the case since the incident said they were relieved that the accused was denied bail. They said they had feared for their lives.
A resident said what scared her the most was the fact that he showed no remorse, and that the accused was feared in his community and allegedly threatened residents when he was arrested, saying he would take care of them when he came back.
