The accused, 39-year-old Bakhe Bhembe, faces charges of axing his 73-year-old mother to death, and the bail application hearings have repeatedly been postponed, leaving residents feeling hopeless.
Bakhe will make a brief appearance in the Protea Magistrates Court on Thursday, 14 December.
Neighbour Tshidi Mgudi told Daily Sun that she fears the accused might be released on bail today, 14 December.
"I'm confused and scared,” she said.

She said it's also worrying that the public is no longer interested in the case like they were after the incident happened.
Community members have been asked to come out in numbers to support the family so that the accused doesn’t get bail.
The accused has faced multiple court appearances for the same purpose, leaving residents disheartened and concerned about the delayed legal proceedings.
