CONSTANCE Sophie Mncube-Ngobeni, who is accused of kidnapping her man's child, will spend Christmas in jail.
The 38-year-old made her third appearance in the Acornhoek Magistrates Court on Wednesday, 13 December and her case was remanded until 24 January 2024 for further investigations.
The victim's mum, Pertunia Malapane and her mother, Nelly, who were joined by community members, walked out of the court happy.
"We are happy with the court decision. She must go and rot in jail for the pain she caused us," said Pertunia.
A week ago, Mncube-Ngobeni, who faces another charge of child kidnapping in Rustenburg, North West, shockingly abandoned bail as she fears for her life.
Her arrest comes after she visited the child's family in Acornhoek Plaza View and pretended to be a cop from Acornhoek cop shop, saying she was investigating the child’s case.
She then pleaded with Pertunia to at least provide her with the child's birth certificate and clinic card to take the child back from the suspect.
Pertunia said she asked her to come back the following day to collect the papers.
"I called her saying the papers are ready and she must collect them. Unfortunately, angry residents caught up to her and gave her the people's justice. She led them to a taxi rank stall where the child was. She confessed to kidnapping her in 2010," she said.

The mum said the accused allegedly stole the child, who is now 19 years old and in matric, in August 2010 while she had gone out to buy medication at nearby Acornhoek MegaCity Mall.
She said she recognised her daughter by her scar.
"The woman's my ex-hubby's lover. She said the child's school is always demanding her ID to register her for the final matric exams, but she couldn't produce it. So that's why she decided to come to our homestead," she said.
