“THE ANC awaits the release of the DA's records of deployment with bated breath.”
This was said by the ANC secretary general Fikile Mbalula during a media briefing at Moses Mabhida Stadium in Durban, KZN, on Thursday, 22 February.
Mbalula was giving an update on the state of readiness for the mayihlome manifesto launch rally and other political developments.
Recently, the DA approached the courts to declare cadre policy unconstitutional and unlawful. Mbalula said the opposition party couldn't convince the North Gauteng High Court on their ideological and philosophical spin.
“The high court verdict was straightforward. There's nothing unconstitutional about a political party influencing the policy direction of a government, including the appointment of senior personnel to public service, as long as the public service is protected against being misused for partisan purposes.
“The narrative that the deployment of cadres is unconstitutional and unlawful has no basis in law, hence the high court correctly found out that the DA failed to point out to any text neither in the Constitution nor any statute that supports their claims,” he said.

Mbalula said the DA is profoundly dishonest and misleading the public in presenting itself as a party that doesn't deploy its members into the public service to pursue its policy agenda.
“In this regard the DA pretends that all its deployees are merely recruited by chance of merit and not a deliberate effort to advance the DA’s agenda. There is evidence in the City of Tshwane and the Western Cape that the DA itself has been practising its own version of deployment of its leaders and members into positions of administration where the party governs."
On the cadre deployment records, handed over to the DA, Mbalula said they gave them everything, including all the WhatsApp messages and will wait for them to be released.
Speaking on the build-up events towards the ANC elections manifesto launch rally, Mbalula said they have once again demonstrated the high level of excitement reflecting political loyalty to the ANC's national transformation agenda.
He said people were aware that the ANC has faced many challenges over the past three decades but remained the only dependable ally towards socio-economic upliftment.
“We'll launch the manifesto mayihlome ihlasele at the Moses Mabhida Stadium this coming Saturday, 24 February. Gates will open at 7am. The ANC president Comrade Cyril Ramaphosa is scheduled to take the stage at noon to deliver and outline the ANC’s 2024 elections manifesto, citing the various tasks that the movement must implement going into the future to accelerate and deepen comprehensive national transformation towards a better life for all,” he said.
