A MAN who allegedly held his wife and four children hostage at his home in Klopperpark in Bedfordview Ekurhuleni will appear in the Germiston Magistrates Court on Wednesday, 6 March.
The man allegedly shot and wounded three cops and his wife's female friend on 25 February.
The suspect (38) was accused of keeping his family hostage and when the police arrived at the scene, he allegedly shot at them.
According to Gauteng police spokesman, Lieutenant-Colonel Mavela Masondo, the suspect also shot his wife's female friend.
“A 38-year-old man was arrested after he allegedly shot and injured three police officers who responded to a hostage situation on Sunday, 25 February.
“The police received a complaint about a wife and children who were held hostage by the husband in Klopperpark, Bedfordview. As the police arrived at the house, the suspect fired shots at them and also shot the family friend who was also in the house,” he said.

He said the suspect has been charged with four counts of attempted murder.
“The SAPS hostage negotiator and task team were summoned to the scene. The suspect released all the other victims and surrendered himself to the police. He was then arrested and charged with four counts of attempted murder, kidnapping, and assault with intent to cause grievous bodily harm,” Masondo said.
Masondo added that the injured victims were hospitalized.
“The injured police officers and the family friend were taken to the nearest medical care center where they are in serious but stable conditions,” he said.
