Lwenkosi Khawula is missing, and it's been three months.
Lwenkosi Khawula is missing, and it's been three months.

THE family of a boy who has been missing for three months say they need help finding missing Lwenkosi Khawula.

The nine-year-old from Ndelu Village, KZN disappeared on 31 August 2023. Despite the extensive search for the grade 4 pupil, almost three months have passed, and he still hasn't been found.

His uncle Sibonelo Khawula (35) told Daily Sun that Lwenkosi was last seen playing soccer with his friends.

Sibonelo said all the kids he was playing with went home in the afternoon, but he has not arrived at his home.

"When we realised he was not at home, we went looking for him. His friends said they had been playing and a ball had hit the window of a neighbour's car. But the owner didn't do anything to the boy. But that was the last time Lwenkosi was seen. We don't know where he went or why he disappeared," he said.

He said all they want now is to find Lwenkosi because he has been missing for a very long time.

"We are not sure if we'll find him dead or alive. But we will accept anything. We just want to find him so that we can have closure. We would be grateful if we can find him before Christmas because if we don't find him, it means we will have a dark Christmas," he said.

He said Lwenkosi lived with his sister because his mum died away in 2017.

"We hope the police will find him because we have left everything to them," he said.

KZN police spokeswoman Lieutenant-Colonel Nqobile Gwala said cops are appealing to residents to help in the search for nine-year-old Lwenkosi Khawula from Ndelu Village.

Gwala said he was last seen on Thursday, 31 August 2023 and was wearing a grey tracksuit.

"Anyone with information about his whereabouts is urged to contact Detective Captain Zelda Hamilton on 079 696 3711 or 039 699 1601, or CrimeStop on 08600 10111," Gwala said.
