THE Shange family has been having sleepless nights since the disappearance of Luzelwande Shange (2).
What happened
The toddler from Nkandla, northern KZN has been missing since Monday, 18 September and hasn't been found.
His gogo, Zandile Shange, told Daily Sun that Lizelwande accompanied his cousin (13) to fetch cows and bring them home.
That was the last time he was seen. She said his cousin allegedly told them that they were being follwed by a man while looking for the cows.
Stranger follows boys
"He said he could not recognise the man as he was wearing a face mask and a thick coat. When they were looking for the cows, he was there. When they stopped, he stopped too. And when they moved, he also moved," she said.
Zandile said the boy told them that when he saw the cows, he asked Luzelwande to wait for him because he wanted to fetch the cows back.
Toddler vanishes
"But when he came back, Luzelwande was nowhere to be seen. The man had also disappeared. He immediately came running home and reported that Luzelwande was missing," Zandile said.
Search for missing toddler
She said when they heard the news, they immediately went to look for him.
"With the help of our neighbours, we searched everywhere but we did not find him. We then reported to the police," she said.
Zandile said since Luzelwande went missing, things had not been easy at home.
"We are worried sick and praying for his safe return home. It has been the most difficult and longest time since he went missing," she said.
Police intervene
KZN police spokeswoman Lieutenant-Colonel Nqobile Gwala confirmed that a missing persons file had been opened at Colenso cop shop.
"The missing child is still being sought by the police," Gwala said.
