ABOUT 23 taxi drivers, aged between 20 and 54, are expected to appear in court for allegedly throwing stones at Witbank Police Station in Mpumalanga.
The group demanded the release of a man allegedly bust for murder and attempted murder.
Mpumalanga police spokesman Brigadier Selvy Mohlala said the incident happened on Monday, 20 March.
He said the taxi drivers allegedly arrived at the cop shop in four minibuses and caused drama outside the building.
"They reportedly threatened the station's management and also demanded the release of the suspect in the murder and attempted murder case.
"In response to their demands, the group was told that this was not possible and they were ordered to leave the station immediately," said Mohlala.

He said members responded, resulting in the arrest of all cab drivers charged with public violence.
According to Mohlala, the violent drama comes from an incident that occurred on Wednesday, 15 March.
He said that on the day in question, a group of taxi drivers went to Klarinet in Witbank and allegedly kidnapped and severely assaulted two men they had accused of stealing.
"One of the men caught, identified as Sfiso Dube (29) unfortunately succumbed to his injuries while the other was hospitalised due to his injuries," said Mohlala.
He said a case of murder with an additional charge of attempted murder has been opened, and the matter was being investigated.
On Sunday, 19 March, Mohlala said the team continued the investigation that led to the arrest of a 33-year-old man in Witbank.
The Independent Police Investigative Directorate (Ipid) will further investigate the shooting incident,” he said.
The group of taxi operators and the 33-year-old man charged with murder and attempted murder are expected to appear in the Emalahleni Magistrates Court on Wednesday, 22 March.
