VUMA FM presenter Mankini Mgenge was attacked after he criticised SuperSport commentator Reggie "Mapensela" Ndlovu.
The 27-year-old opened the can of worms when he publicly criticised the Zulu-speaking Mapensela on Facebook on Monday, 5 February.
Mankini, who presents a weekday show alongside Robert Marawa’s sister, Vanessa Marawa wrote: “That Zulu commentator on SuperSport is what’s killing media, bro has 0 content it’s just vibes. He doesn’t know anything about anyone, we had to google the next match details, he doesn’t say anything. He just changes players names and have a jol."
After that, Mapensela’s fans attacked him and he later apologised and even deleted his post.
One of Mapensela's fans, Wandile Ncube wrote: “Dear Vuma FM you see that dog working for you, please if doesn’t like Mapensela, he must stay away for options 2 on DStv, we support Ndlovu but what he said he must come back and apologies even you to station must give us a proper statement before 17.30pm today."
Mankini said he posted not anticipating that Mapensela is in a circle of people he has access to.
“Unwritten media code is that you never publicly criticise your colleagues. I was sad that his commentary doesn’t accommodate me as a regular viewer who isn’t invested in football, having him compared with commentators with analysts.
“Everyone is excited that ‘Ngqongqoshe ongenasikhundla’ has the ball, but I’m out here wondering who’s that now, that was part of my frustration,” he said.

He said he also thought as he is in media, he has an unwritten obligation to his followers.
“SuperSport has commentary option for related reason. I could’ve learned the game like everyone else or tuned it off. I’m sorry to Reggie, his associates and fans. If I further undermined other people or brands, I apologise,” he said.
Daily Sun tried to contact Mapensela for comment, but his phone was off.
