SICKNESS forced the late presenter Ukhozi FM presenter, Bheka "Beekay" Mchunu to leave radio early.

Beekay's death is still a shock to many of his followers. The presenter died on Tuesday, 12 March after complaining about his chest. He was 45.

The presenter from KZN didn't have a good time at Ukhozi FM as he was always in and out of hospital. In 2021, he collapsed at work and was rushed to hospital. He was then taken off air for three weeks to recuperate.

Beekay was known for his popular show on Ukhozi FM, Sigiya Nengoma, a maskandi show that aired every weekend.

He joined the station in 2011 andwas loved by many people, but his illness kept him off air from time to time.

In October 2022, he fell ill before he started with his show Sigiya Nengoma. This after he experienced shortness of breath out of the blue and was rushed to hospital by a colleague.

According to someone close to the presenter, Beekay has been experiencing shortness of breath for a long time and when this happened, he was unable to work.

In December 2022, he took a break again. This was when he lost his voice on air.

Beekay's brother, Sfiso told Daily Sun his brother had something on his chest before he died. He said he was trying to rush him to the hospital, but he sadly passed away.

"I still can't believe that my brother is gone. I thought there was something they were going to do with him so that he lives on," he said.

Sfiso said this has left him heartbroken and he wishes he could turn back time.
