THE funeral of the late Ukhozi FM presenter Bheka “Beekay” Mchunu is underway at his ancestral home town in Empangeni, KZN.
Beekay (45) died on Tuesday, 12 March, after complaining about chest pains.
The presenter died while being rushed to the hospital by his brother, Sfiso Mchunu, and was declared dead on arrival.
The same complications silenced Beekay on his maskandi slot Sigiya ngengoma on Ukhozi FM which aired every Saturday.

Beekay faced health challenges during his time at Ukhozi FM, including collapsing on air in 2021 and experiencing breathing difficulties before a show in October 2022.
His funeral is taking place at KwaNsumpa sports field in Ngwelezane township.
His family is supported by his colleagues, friends, government officials and business associates.
Representatives from the City of uMhlathuze and the King Cetshwayo District, including Mayor Xolani Mgwezi and Thami Ntuli respectively, are also present.
Minister of Water and Sanitation Senzo Mchunu and Minister of Arts and Culture Zizi Kodwa have also attended the service.
Maskandi star Khuzani Mpungose is expected to pay tribute on behalf of maskandi artists.
Mdonso Ngcobo, Sphongo Dladla and Bingelela Mpanza who were working on the Sigiya Ngengoma show with Beekay will also pay their final respect.
Tshatha Ngobe and Nomfumdo Mkhize will pay tribute on behalf of colleagues, while Ukhozi FM station manager Sbongi Ngcobo will be paying tribute on behalf of the station.
Beekay's daughter, Ziyanda Mchunu, will be speaking on behalf of his children.
The funeral is currently underway.
