Gospel singer Fikile Mlomo, who needs prayers and help right now.

GOSPEL star Fikile Mlomo has been in hospital for almost three months.

Being stuck on a hospital bed has meant the singer hasn't been able to perform at gigs or find other means to make a living.

Now, gospel musicians, led by Thinah Zungu and her fans, have joined hands to pray and raise funds for her. This will be held at the GNF Durban Station on Friday, 29 April, from 6pm to 6am the following day.

How do they plan to do this?

“I don't want to do bookings for musicians. It's an open stage. Those who want to come and perform must feel free to do so.

“The aim is not to pay anyone who will be participating on the day. The amount we get will be taken as is to Fikile, and she'll decide what to do with it,” Thina said.

What's wrong with Fikile?

Daily Sun published her story, headlined: Gospel star Fikile Mlomo's sickness revealed on 11 April.

It was revealed in that story that the Hayi Inyweba Abanayo hitmaker has been diagnosed with spinal tumor.

The 42-year-old musician from Lindelani, north of Durban, now desperately needs money for spinal cord surgery.

Doctors battled to find what was wrong in the first two months since her admission as she struggled to walk without assistance.

“Many people suggested we do a benefit concert but my issue with a concert is that it chows a lot of money during preparations.

What to expect on the day

“We'll come with money and donate it. My target is at least R50 000 and not below that. If we get anything above R70 000 or R80 000, it'll be a bonus.”

Thinah said the funds and prayers will help Fikile as she is almost about to finish three months in hospital.

He urged those who can't make it to the prayer event to donate directly into Fikile’s banks account. He said banking details were shared on her and his Facebook pages.

“So far, people have donated more than R7000 into her account, already” he said.

Daily Sun tried to contact Fikile and her phone was off.

Do you think this event will reach its target of R50 000? Comment below. We'd love to hear from you.
