RADIO and TV presenter Zanele Potelwa was told she wouldn't make it because she didn't want to exchange sexual favours for a job.
But now, things are looking good for her. She was recently one of the backstage hosts of the 2024 Metro FM Music Awards live show.
Among the many shows and events, she has hosted Tropika Island of Treasure and she's currently one of the presenters on S3's Expresso Morning Show as well as 5FM.
Zanele believes her patience, passion, and hard work have helped her come this far.
The 30-year-old from the Eastern Cape told Daily Sun that there are people who like taking advantage of presenters in the industry.
"Whether it's not paying you or people who know that they have power and try to make you enticed by dinners and more things," she said.
She said she had been in a situation like that before.

"I went for an audition, and this person was like, I have to do something sexual for them in order for me to get the job, but I said no," she said.
Zanele said that she has been fortunate to have good mentors.
"They guided me to make sure how I do my invoices so that I don't get taken advantage of," she said.
She said that she has had big highlights.
"The Metro FM awards were my biggest highlights, hosting the live show for the first time.
"I've always wanted to do this," she said.
Zanele said that getting to do all the things she is passionate about is her biggest highlight of all.
She said she believes her loved ones and God have brought her this far.
"I'm not kidding; it's God, and I can't imagine my life without him and my loved ones. The only reason I became a presenter was through my friends. She forced me to go for an audition when I didn't even believe I'd be in this thing," she said.
