EVER wondered what goes on behind the making of the TV show, The Masked Singer South Africa?

Here’s a chance to find out.

The show will be out at Menlyn Mall in Tshwane on Saturday, 29 July, showcasing fans the real feel of the show and the effort that goes into each episode.

The TV show has local celebrities whose identities are hidden, perform on stage for a panel of judges, the audience and viewers at home and then guess who they are before they're unmasked.

In every episode, well-known personalities and entertainment superstars sing well-known songs while bejewelled in full-body costumes and masks to hide their identities.

The flamboyant masks and costumes have personalities of their own and invite as much commentary as the performances themselves do.

Comedian and TV personality Mpho Popps, who is the host of the show, will be joined by a panel of celebrity detectives consisting of J. Something, Somizi Mhlongo, Sithelo Shozi,as well as comedian Skhumba.

On Saturday the show’s detectives Somizi and Luthando Shosha, with the help of the people attending, will solve the clues of which celebrities might be behind the mask and participants will get to walk away with prizes and goodies.

The show has had personalities such as Mzansi politician Mmusi Maimane, comedian David Kau and former Miss Universe Zozibini Tunzi.

Speaking of her experience, Zozi said she decided to join the show because she loves to sing.

“I did the show because I love to sing. It brings me pure joy. I loved every moment of living in that musical bubble where people had no idea who I was,” she said.

On Saturday, entertainment will be provided by radio host DJ Sabby, who will be on the decks.

The Masked Singer South Africa airs on SABC3 on Saturdays at 6.30pm, and SABC1 on the same night at 8pm.
