IT'S ONLY been a few months since the death of gospel star Dr Kenny Makweng, but his record label Kennymak Productions is already remembering him by releasing his music.
Dr Kenny died at the age of 52 after a short illness and was laid to rest in Limpopo on 21 January.
Lawrence Lesiba Mashiachidi, a close friend and manager of the late musician, said they're celebrating his life by finishing his previous projects he was working on before he died.
Lesiba said this was his wish, and they are honouring it.
The businessman from Ga-Matlala a Thaba (Phoffu village) in Limpopo said his relationship with Dr Kenny Makweng was fruitful.
He said before he died, he told him and his team to release most of his songs and projects so that his fans could celebrate him.
"We cared for and valued each other to the point where we both forgot that one was way older than the other. We had a common goal of putting Kennymak Productions first," Lesiba said.

He said he was like a brother to him.
"We're celebrating his legacy by uniting everyone that he has mentored and worked with so that we can continue with his legacy. It has always been his wish to see his crew together," he said.
He said they just wanted people to dance to his sound and remember how wonderful he was.
"Jeso Oa Nkgopola is a song which was recorded in November 2023. This was just a month before he got hospitalised, and it's now available in all digital stores," he said.
He said they'll never forget him for his great personality.
"We'd like to thank his supporters for the love and support they've always shown him. Not forgetting the special messages of prayers they sent us during the difficult times," he said.
He said Dr Kenny's solo album will also be released in due course.
The musician was known for his sione songs, such as Lengeloi Laka and Ba Duma Duma.
