VETERAN actor Siyabonga Thwala is back for some bad-boy drama.
The actor, who is well-known for his role as Mpiyakhe Zungu on Mzansi Magic's Isibaya, has a new role in Empini, which premieres on Showmax on Thursday, 23 May.
Empini is a 52-episode series that is a high-stakes, action-packed drama, and Siyabonga will be starring as Khaya Bhodoza, a prominent businessman and political stalwart.
The 55-year-old renowned actor is excited about his new role.

"I've played many roles in my career but am particularly excited about my role in Empini as it'll showcase many facets of myself as a performer. This role has stretched me mentally and physically," Siyabonga said.
He added that Empini is not just another show but a production that'll showcase the high-quality content local productions continue to offer.
"From the cast to the crew, every person on set has shown so much passion and the drive to ensure that Empini is viewed as a high-quality production. It's a project that I pride myself in."
Siyabonga rose to fame through the role of Vusi Zwane on the e.tv soapie, Scandal.
His role went on to earn him a Golden Horn Award. He has won Best Actor SAFTAs for his iconic roles as Mpiyakhe in Isibaya and Musa in Intersexions. He's also a fan-favorite from the likes of eHostela, The River, and The Republic.
