The channel made the announcement on Wednesday, 26 October.
“Celebrated and award-winning thespian Siyabonga will be adding another brilliant credit to his repertoire – he is set to join The River. His character will make his on-screen debut on 10 February,” it wrote.
Bangizwe is described as a street smart, hypermasculine “alpha male” from Lindiwe Dikana’s past. They have been friends since childhood and he is as ruthless as she is, but more patient and calculated. He is after Lindiwe’s heart, played by Sindi Dlathu.
Speaking about joining The River and preparing for the role, Siyabonga said: “On set, you must always be prepared. You must always position yourself to do something great. There are no boring or unimportant characters. All characters have a place in the story, even if they are not the leads.”
While Siyabonga is joining the show, three big actors, Hlomla Dandala, Lawrence Maleka and Tango Ncetezo, are leaving the show. The channel announced the news last week, and thanked them.
