AMAPIANO seems to outshine kwaito and house music these days.
But this die-hard kwaito star, Mduduzi "Mapensela" Khoza, vows to keep it alive.
The 45-year-old musician from Zola 3, Soweto, has turned to the original kwaito music and will stick to it.
Mduduzi said he'll use the advantage that he's from Soweto, a kasi that has produced kwaito stars such as Mdu Masilela, the late Mandoza, the late Brown Dash, Bricks, Chiskop, Mzambiya, GP Gang Star, as well as Mapaputsi.
He has released a single titled Dalas Groove featuring General of Chiskop and Dimizeer, in which they reminisce about the glory days of kwaito music.

Mduduzi told Daily Sun that he felt honoured that he was following in the footsteps of kwaito legends, and it is his duty to keep kwaito alive.
"I'm not shocked by the high rotation of amapiano music because amapiano comes from kwaito music. I’m doing kwaito music in a modern way so that it is suitable for everyone regardless of age and generation," he said.
Mduduzi started his music career in 2002 when he formed a kwaito trio called Travellers. The trio was signed under Dalom Music at the time.
The trio went their separate ways in 2003. Mduduzi returned to music in 2016 and released his debut solo album titled Dlala Kwaal. In 2002, he released a single called Insimbiyomlungu.
