NONTOBEKO "Nkomozombango" Ziqubu is fulfilling her mother’s dream of become a professional musician.
The 28-year-old from Ladysmith, KZN said her late mum Nompumelelo Machi was a good singer, but she never recorded any songs and wished for her child to become a professional recording singer.
Nkomozombango has now released her debut Afro-pop single titled Inhliziyo. She told Daily Sun that her mother died in 2022 and gave her blessings to be a recording artist.
“My mother was a good singer in church, and she loved the music and entertainment industry. But she didn’t get an opportunity to record her music.
“I inherited the singing talent from her, and I started singing when I was young. I’m now fulfilling her dream to be a professional recording musician,” she said.
She said she hopes her mother will be proud of her and that she will be a good musical ancestor to guide her in the music industry.
“I also hope that I will not disappoint my mother because she really loved music and really loved us as her children. My mother wished to be known all over the world for her singing talent. I will use my talent to fulfil her wishes,” she said.
