XITSONGA disco star Benny does it again!

Singer and songwriter Benny Mayengani graduated with honours degree in public management in governance from University of Johannesburg (UJ).

The Limpopo-born musician, whose real name is Bennet Skheto Baloyi, said he was very happy to have graduated.

In May 2022, the musician completed his first degree at the University of Joburg’s Soweto campus with a BA in public management and governance.

The 44-year-old musician from Shawela Block 7 Tzaneen in Limpopo told Daily Sun that it was not an easy road.

Benny said the reason was that most of the students were not his age when he started his career.

"I matriculated in the '90s. At that time, Nsfas was not yet in place and because of these elementary aspects and circumstances, I couldn't continue my studies. The main reason was financial constraints," he said.

The Malambani hitmaker said he was thrilled with his achievement.

"I've managed to achieve and maintain an outstanding honours degree in public management in governance (BA). This is an inspiration to me and of course a motivation to myself," he said.

Benny said he was both fascinated and delighted.

"It takes discipline and dedication to maintain balance and stability when it comes to my studies. All I need is resilience and hard work. Remember that hard work does not pay off," he said.

The musician said people can expect more accolades educationally from him.

"Since I have a masters and a PhD and I am also a legitimate civil servant, since I have also started my political organisation (AADP), I have already started drilling wells in several villages so that people can get water. My goal is to change the lives of all people, regardless of their origin," he said.
