IT’S been more than a year since gqom stars and controversial couple, Mampintsha and Babes Wodumo, welcomed their bundle of joy.
But they had hidden his face from fans.
When his face was finally revealed in public on Monday, 12 September, fans couldn’t believe his cuteness.
Mampintsha, whose real name is Mandla Maphumulo, posted a photo of their son on Instagram on Monday.
Babes, whose real name is Bongekile Simelane, and Mampintsha, had maintained that people will meet their son when the time was right.

Babes Wodumo’s sister and manager, Nondumiso Simelane, said the fact that the son’s face has been shown means that now the time is right.
“Parents do what they believe is right for their children. So Babes’ action of hiding the face of the baby is her and her husband’s decision, and they had a reason for that. People have opinions on everything. So protecting the baby from public opinions is in the best interest of the baby. Now that the baby is grown, they believe it’s the right time people get to know him,” said Nondumiso.
Although the face has been shown, the parents are still keeping his real name a secret.
They only call him Sponge, the name that came after Mampintsha’s mum Zandile Gumede, publicly accused Babes of pretending to be pregnant by putting sponges on her stomach.

Nondumiso said that the name will also be revealed when the time is right.
“Baby Sponge has his real name and it’s beautiful. But it’ll be up to his parents as to when they’ll reveal it to public. For now, people must enjoy seeing the cute face of baby Sponge,” said Nondumiso.
Mampintsha and Babes Wodumo are know for controversy which, most of the time, involves their families.
