AFRO-SOUL singer and songwriter Maleh previously blessed Africa with her hits, Chimsoro and You Make My Heart Go. She disappeared and left her fans wondering.
In 2022, she returned with a bang after a five-year hiatus with songs Ke Tlo Fithla and Lerato Laka.
She's been making waves since then.
Maleh, whose real name is Malehloka Hlalele, from Lesotho spoke to Daily Sun about her journey.
What happened
The 38-year-old said she wanted to leave the industry after she and her previous record label parted ways.
"Since venturing into the music industry, my journey has been a tapestry of enriching experiences. From sharing stages with artists I admire, gracing renowned festival platforms, to garnering accolades for my albums," she said.
The musician said her music path has been vibrant.
"Interacting with audiences is one of the highlights and knowing that my songs resonate with and inspire listeners is truly gratifying. Transitioning to an independent artist five years ago taught me the importance of steering my own career," she said.

Music removed from platforms
Maleh said this has allowed her to align decisions with her values and aspirations without compromise.
"Despite the rewards, challenges have been there. Three of my albums were removed from platforms by a former record label, depriving fans of music crafted for their enjoyment."
She said the setback propelled her towards independent releases.
Maleh's comeback
She then established her record label called Psalms Productions in 2022.
"Following this setback, thoughts of giving up surfaced, but resilience prevailed. Establishing my record label, Psalms Productions, and collaborating with the South African Music Performance Rights Association (Sampra) led to the release of my first independent project, Lerato Laka, in 2022," she said.
Maleh is celebrating 21 years in the music industry.
"As I anticipate commemorating this milestone with the 'Ke Tlo Fihla experience' tour, the enthusiastic reception of my latest single, Mmoloki by my supporters fuels my excitement. With a new project coming, I'm grateful for the positive energy and look forward to sharing more music in the coming months."
The musician said she has released Mmoloki as a token of appreciation to God.
She said she is excited about it and has also released a video of her single.
