NOMINEES for the South African Traditional Music Achievements Awards (Satmas) have been announced.

There are 136 nominees across 32 categories.

Categories that are usually highly contested include Best Maskandi Artist.

And this year, the nominees in this category are Ithwasa Lekhansela featuring Indoni, Indoni, Imfezemnyama, Inkosi yamagcokama and Saliwa.

Ithwasa Lekhansela said he's excited about this nomination.

"This nomination means a lot to me. But most importantly I'd like to thank my fans and supporters for putting my music on this level. If it wasn't for their support, I wouldn't have been nominated. If I win this award, it will be a cherry on top," said Ithwasa.

Another highly contested category is the Most Voted Song of the year as well as Best Traditional Radio Presenter of the year.

The nominees were announced in collaboration with the Department of Sport, Arts and Culture, as well as the SABC.
