ZOZIBINI Tunzi has gone from being one of the most loved beauty queens in the world to being one of the most trusted hosts.

On Saturday, 30 September she hosted the 2023 South African Film and Television Awards (Saftas) alongside former The River actor, Lawrence Maleka.

Speaking to Daily Sun, the 30-year-old former Miss Universe said she felt blessed about hosting the awards.

“It’s been an interesting four years. Sometimes when you’re the one doing the work, you put the pressure on yourself and feel like you can still do more. It’s nice to hear people say you’re doing great.

“It’s been a whirlwind. My life changed overnight one day four years ago. It’s been a beautiful challenging ride of trying to reinvent and finding myself in new spaces. It’s been a mix of difficulties and beauty. But I’ve been blessed,” she said.

Zozi said she was happy about getting such a big hosting gig at home.

“This is the third big event I hosted. I did a beauty pageant in the Philippines and the Africa Magic Viewers' Choice Awards (AMVCAs) in Nigeria. It was the first time doing such a big hosting gig here at home and that’s what’s exciting. There’s an honour in that,” the beauty queen said.

She said she was excited about working alongside Lawrence.

“Lawrence is fun and he’s a gentleman. So, to be able to do this with someone who has been doing it for a long time is exciting and it helps a lot,” she said.

Zozi just turned 30 years old and she said she can’t wait to see what her 30s have in store for her.

“I just turned 30 and I’m sure it’s going to be an incredible year. I’m looking forward to learning about myself and being myself. A lot of people say the thirties are a great time because you stop caring about things that don’t matter and that’s what I’m excited about, to not be defined by people, just focusing on myself,” she said.
