Zoe Modiga will be one of the performers at the uMama Mothers' Day concert on 14 May.
MUMS will be celebrated on Mother's Day at the Nirox Ampitheatre in Krugersdorp by the sweet sounds of musicians such as Zoë Modiga, Zolani Mahola and Buhlebendalo Mda.
The musicians will be headlining a concert called uMama Mother’s Day Concert on Sunday, 14 May, where mothers will have the time of their lives.
Reality TV star and entrepreneur Olwethu Leshabane, who will host the show spoke to Daily Sun about it.
“We’re celebrating motherhood and in so doing, we’ve curated it as an ode to Miriam Makeba, because she’s Mama Africa and always will be. We’re trying to express what African motherhood looks like. We think of mothers as birthing person, but mums come in so many forms on the African continent. So, we’ll be celebrating them on stage,” she said.
She said the concert will celebrate Mam Makeba for all she has done for the music industry.
“We’ll have performances inspired by Miriam Makeba and her life's work throughout her lifetime. We have asked every artist from Buhlebendalo Mda, Zolani, Zoe and Aus Tebza to draw inspiration from Miriam Makeba," Leshabane said.

When asked what Mother’s Day means to her, Olwethu said: “Mother’s Day means kicking back, relaxing and reflecting on what my motherhood looks like. Is my motherhood a depiction of my traumas and triggers? Have I become better as a mum, how far have I become? I’ve got pre-teens now, so am I doing what I need to be doing? But for me, what I’d like to do the most for Mother’s Day is to allow mums a day to kick back, enjoy being serenaded by amazing musicians and celebrate themselves. So, if you have a mum, somebody who reminds you of a mother figure, celebrate them, bring them out to Nirox. Bring your children as well. The place is child friendly.”
