CELEBRATED journalist, media practitioner, and former 2010 FIFA World Cup local organising committee head of communications Jermaine Craig has died.
The death of the 47-year-old was confirmed by his family on Monday afternoon, 4 December
In a short statement the Craig family said: “The family of Jermaine Craig is saddened to inform you of his passing this morning, Monday 4 December 2023. Jermaine collapsed while at gym and was rushed to the Sandton Medi Clinic where efforts to revive him failed.”
“Information regarding funeral and other arrangements will follow in due course. We ask that you keep Michelle, Matthew, Christian, Jermaine’s mom, and the rest of the family in your prayers,” read the statement.

The family also requested privacy and deeply appreciated your messages of support during this difficult time.
At the time of his untimely death, Craig was a media officer for the Confederation of African Football (CAF), where he worked closely with Mamelodi Sundowns monitoring their matches and was also a consultant for a number of companies.
Prior to that, he worked for the FIFA Confederation Cup in 2019 and leading to the famous 2010 World Cup handling various roles dealing with media, including as head of communications.
Before that, the renowned media guru had years of experience in the journalism industry and was able to accumulate several awards which led him to being in the editorial team.
